New Jersey Pre-ETS & OSYES Questions
Common questions from New Jersey families, students, and school partners about eligibility, referrals, and cost.
What Pre-ETS services are available in New Jersey?
Lincoln Square Coaching provides DVRS-funded Pre-Employment Transition Services in Hudson and Essex Counties. Services include Job Exploration Counseling, Workplace Readiness Training, Self-Advocacy Instruction, and Post-Secondary Counseling at no cost to students and families.
What is OSYES in New Jersey?
Out-of-School Youth Employment Services (OSYES) supports young adults ages 16-24 with disabilities who are not enrolled in school. Funded through DVRS, OSYES provides career exploration, job readiness training, and personalized employment planning at no cost.
What is the difference between Pre-ETS and OSYES?
The difference is whether the young person is still in a school program. Pre-ETS serves students who are currently enrolled, generally ages 14-21. OSYES serves young adults ages 16-24 who have left school, whether they graduated, aged out, or disengaged. Both are funded through DVRS and both are provided at no cost. If you are not sure which applies, we will help you work it out.
Do I need an open DVRS case or a school referral to start Pre-ETS in New Jersey?
No. Students do not need an open DVRS case to begin Pre-ETS, and you do not need to go through a school to reach us. Families and students can come directly to Lincoln Square Coaching. We prepare and submit the DVRS referral on the student's behalf. The referral is a pre-authorization step, not a full DVRS application, and all Pre-ETS services are provided at no cost.
Who is eligible for Pre-ETS in New Jersey?
Students with a documented disability who are enrolled in an educational program may be eligible, generally between ages 14 and 21. Documentation commonly takes the form of an IEP, a 504 Plan, or comparable evidence of a disability. Lincoln Square Coaching reviews what you already have and confirms whether the DVRS referral pathway applies before anything is submitted.
What documentation do I need to get started in New Jersey?
Most families already have what is needed: an IEP, a 504 Plan, a Social Security disability award letter, a school evaluation, or comparable documentation of a disability. Send us what you have and we will review it with you. If something is missing, we will tell you what it is rather than leaving you to guess.
How much do Pre-ETS and OSYES cost in New Jersey?
Nothing. Both Pre-ETS and OSYES are funded through DVRS and are provided at no cost to students, families, or partner schools. Lincoln Square Coaching also offers separate self and family funded private coaching for people who do not qualify for DVRS services or who want support beyond what the funded programs cover.
What areas does Lincoln Square Coaching serve in New Jersey?
Lincoln Square Coaching serves Hudson County (Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, North Bergen, West New York, Union City) and Essex County (Newark, East Orange, Montclair, Bloomfield, Livingston) in New Jersey.
Can New Jersey schools partner with Lincoln Square Coaching?
Yes. We work with New Jersey schools the same way we do in New York: on-site Pre-ETS instruction through our SOAR curriculum, professional development for instructional and administrative staff, family and caregiver workshops, and transition coordination support. There is no cost to the school or to families.
Is Lincoln Square Coaching an approved DVRS provider in New Jersey?
Yes. Lincoln Square Coaching is authorized by the New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) to provide Pre-ETS and OSYES in Hudson and Essex Counties.
