These are your rights every time you work with anyone on our team.
These rights work alongside Our Commitments to You, which explains what we will do to honor them.
You have the right to be treated with respect.
You will be treated with dignity no matter your race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, language, immigration status, socioeconomic status, background, or any other protected status. You will not be judged for who you are, how you learn, how you communicate, or what you have been through.
You have the right to be heard.
Your goals, your opinions, and your choices matter. You can ask questions, disagree, change your mind, or say no. Your voice guides the work we do together.
You have the right to understand what is happening.
We will explain things in a way that makes sense to you. If something is confusing, you can ask us to slow down, repeat it, write it down, or say it a different way. You can bring someone you trust to any meeting.
You have the right to privacy.
What you share with us stays between you and your team, with a few exceptions we will explain up front (for example, if someone is in danger, or if a funder like ACCES-VR, DVRS, OPWDD, etc. requires specific information). You can ask to see your records. You can ask who has access to your information.
You have the right to ask for what you need.
If you need accommodation to do your best work, please tell us. This might include extra time, written instructions, a quiet space, sensory breaks, help with reading, a support person, or something else. You do not have to justify your needs.
You have the right to be safe.
You should never feel threatened, harassed, mocked, or unsafe here. That includes safety from other participants, staff, or visitors. If something feels wrong, you can tell us and we will take it seriously.
You have the right to use your own name and pronouns.
We will use the name and pronouns you tell us, even if they are different from what is on your paperwork. If you are not sure yet, that is okay too.
You have the right to make your own choices about your career.
We are here to support you, not to decide for you. You can explore options, try things, and change direction. Your career is yours.
You have the right to be told about your options.
If a service, class, job lead, or resource is available to you, we will tell you about it honestly. If we cannot help with something, we will try to point you toward someone who can.
You have the right to end services or take a break.
You can pause or stop working with us at any time. We will talk with you about what that means, but the choice is yours.
You have the right to speak up if something goes wrong.
If you are unhappy with how you were treated, you can tell us without fear of losing services or being punished. You can speak to:
- The LSC staff person you are working with
- The LSC staff person's supervisor
- Our office directly at (212) 320-8973 x2010 or contact@lincolnsqcoaching.com
- Lincoln Square Coaching's CEO, Joseph Amodeo, at (212) 320-8973 x2007 or joseph@lincolnsqcoaching.com
- Your ACCES-VR or DVRS counselor or OPWDD care manager, if that applies to you
We will listen, take it seriously, and tell you what we are doing about it.
If you come across a term you don't recognize, our glossary explains the agencies, programs, and language used in this document.
