Celebrating Disability Pride Month: Visibility, Voice, and the Power of Belonging

July is Disability Pride Month, a time to honor the contributions, identities, and voices of people with disabilities, and to recognize disability as a natural and valuable part of human diversity. At Lincoln Square Coaching, Disability Pride Month is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to affirm the dignity, worth, and potential of every individual we serve.

What Is Disability Pride Month?

Disability Pride Month began in recognition of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law in July 1990. The ADA was a landmark civil rights achievement, prohibiting discrimination based on disability in education, employment, and public life.

Disability pride means: understanding that access is a civil right; valuing differences in how people move, communicate, think, and learn; and celebrating the leadership and resilience of people with disabilities

How We Support Disability Pride in Action

At Lincoln Square Coaching, we work with students and adults who are building self-awareness, learning new skills, and preparing for futures that reflect their strengths, interests, and values.

Our services promote choice, self-advocacy, and person-centered planning. Through career coaching, Pre-ETS, and our SOAR curriculum, we help individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered to lead their own journeys.

How You Can Participate

This month, we invite you to:

  • Learn more about disability history and culture
  • Reflect on how your school, organization, or community supports belonging
  • Share your pride and amplify disabled voices
  • Commit to creating environments where everyone has access and agency

Disability Pride Month is not just about awareness. It is about affirmation. It is about honoring people for who they are, not despite their disability, but including it.

Happy Disability Pride Month from all of us at Lincoln Square Coaching. We are proud to support your goals, elevate your voice, and celebrate all that makes you uniquely you.
