Honoring 35 Years of Progress: National Disability Independence Day

July 26 marks National Disability Independence Day, a day that commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. This year is especially meaningful as we recognize the 35th anniversary of this landmark civil rights legislation.

The ADA was a turning point in American history. It affirmed the fundamental rights of people with disabilities to live with dignity, independence, and full participation in society. From access to public transportation and buildings, to workplace protections and the right to reasonable accommodations, the ADA transformed how society views and supports people with disabilities.

At Lincoln Square Coaching, we are proud to honor the legacy of the ADA and the advocates who made it possible. We also recognize that while significant progress has been made, the work of advancing inclusion, accessibility, and opportunity continues.

Here’s to 35 years of progress—and the work still ahead.
